Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet community in the West Island of Montreal is one of those "sleepy" area. The West Island has a lot of different communities. People who have never been aware of it frequently mistake it for a separate island facing west. Amanda Brugel is said to be born on the West Island. However, this isn't the truth. Brugel grew to be a woman of a certain age in Courtice Ontario just outside Oshawa. The first goal she had was to become an expert dancer. Then, a growth spurt caused her to outgrow her dance partners she had. In an article in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6'1 inch. When I grew out of male companions at that point, I gave up. Numerous former dancers choose to become actors. For Brugel it was because of the advice by her drama instructor at high school that led her in the direction she required. It was her teacher who suggested she audition for the role of Anne in their annual school production. After a few auditions the role, she was chosen as the leading lady for Anne of Green Gables. After receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. Over the past 20 years that followed, Brugel has been offered roles in over 60 shows on both small and large screens, attracting the greatest attention when she landed the part as Rita in the award-winning television series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the character Rita in the Handmaid's Tale which was filmed over ten years ago.
